Cynthia Hoss

Cynthia Hoss CMT, RYT Co-owner Awake and Aware. Cynthia is a master bodyworker of 20 plus years and is certified in massage therapy, Touch for Health, Advanced Kripalu Yoga, and Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy. She has been studying and teaching yoga over 15 years and is a Registered Yoga Teacher at the 500-hour level with Yoga Alliance. Cynthia's intention is to open the flow of energy to enhance health, vitality, and balance to the whole being.

Judy Huxmann

Judy is an established bodyworker since 2003, certified in massage therapy, a Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance, and co-owner of Awake and Aware . "I Love working with the aging body both in my yoga teachings and my massage practice, helping to extend and improve balance, flexibility, strength, body awareness and a sense of humor."

Nancy Diment

Nancy is a retired physical therapist who has studied yoga for 31 years and taught for 14. She is registered with Yoga Alliance at the 500 level (RYT 500), a member of IAYT (International Assoc. of Yoga Therapists) and a Relax and Renew Trainer. Her teaching is theme based and paced appropriately for seniors and those with chronic conditions. All classes include a monthly restorative yoga session.

Sharon Betzler

Sharon graduated from the massage therapy program at Kalamazoo Center for the Healing Arts and has been a certified practitioner at Awake and Aware since 2007. She brings a holistic approach to being aware of what your body is telling you, helping to ease the stress of your everyday life. Sharon is a distributor of Essential 3(E-3) Oils. She will incorporate these oils, as needed, into her massage sessions and is available for aroma therapy consulting. Sharon's intention is "supporting the body to move through life with more ease."

Kirsten Lyon

Kirsten was first introduced to yoga and meditation as a child through her father, an Episcopal priest. She has studied under various studios and teachers in the Chicago, Detroit, and Kalamazoo areas, and received her formal RYT certification through Rising Sun Yoga in Detroit. Kirsten is also an ERYT, Exper-ienced Registered Yoga Teacher, able to teach other yoga teachers. Kirsten completely immersed herself into the spiritual esoteric teachings of yoga and meditation, deepening her spirituality and finding new awakenings through yoga into greater self-awareness. She has developed teaching practices that encompass both Western and Eastern spiritual traditions, with specific emphasis on the breath, the intention, and the meditative movement and flow. Kirsten is a practicing Reiki Master and has been doing hands-on healing energy work throughout her yoga teaching.

Kyle Thompson

After being introduced to yoga by his mother-in-law, Kyle Thompson has been practicing for the past eight years and teaching for the past four. He received his teaching certification from the Temple of Kriya Yoga in Chicago and is registered with the Yoga Alliance. He teaches traditional hatha yoga and incorporates asana, pranayama, and centering/meditation into every class. In addition to the teachings he has received from the Temple, Kyle has been strongly inspired by teachers from several other yoga and Buddhist traditions.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor, Kyle is primarily interested in the psychological and therapeutic benefits that yoga practice provides. Kyle believes strongly in the mind-body connection and in using hatha yoga and meditation to promote health, wholeness, and personal empowerment. He encourages everyone to breathe, relax, feel, watch, allow and to experience each moment as it truly is. Veronique Jewell

Veronique Jewell, RN, MA, RYT has been studying yoga since 1994 and in 2008 completed her 200 hours Teacher Training with Melissa Spamer through Lotus In The Flame. Veronique is registered with the Yoga Alliance and deepening her studies in yoga through various workshops and her own practice. Veronique is currently training in Thai Yoga Bodywork. Veronique's vision is to guide her students into a joyful and peaceful yoga journey where they can discover the infinite possibilities of the body and its profound wisdom.

Patricia Plasko

Patricia Plasko, a Yoga Alliance registered teacher, has been studying yoga since 1999, completing her 200 hour RYT Teacher Training in 2008 under the direction of Melissa Spamer, Founder/Director of Lotus in the Flame, School of Yoga and Healing Arts. With an MFA in Dance Education, Performance, Improvisation and Choreography, Patricia brings over 25 years experience teaching and observing the body in motion. Her yoga classes strive to enhance the body/mind relationship, with a focus on technical detail of asana (poses), dynamic anatomy of the body and the meditative flow of movement.

Pam Sheltrown

Pam has been practicing massage for 20+ years and has been working at Awake and Aware since the beginning of 2010. She is a member of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA). Her training encompasses a broad spectrum of massage modalities. Pam's strengths are in deep tissue massage, passive and active techniques for myofacial release and therapuetic massage. Pam draws on her twenty years of experience, in consultation with her clients, to determine the appropriate method of massage for each person.

Kristin Fiore

Kristin has been studying yoga since 2007 and completed her 200-hour teacher certification through 7 Centers Yoga Arts in Sedona, AZ in 2009. She is a Yoga Alliance registered teacher. In 2010, she returned to Sedona and apprenticed for a month in 7 Centers' Ayurvedic kitchen to learn more about Ayurveda and the healing properties of food and herbs. She is currently studying Thai Massage through the Chicago School of Thai Massage and is excited to see how this is transforming both her personal practice and her teaching. Look for elements of Ruesri Dat Ton (traditional Thai yoga) and more hands-on adjustments in her classes.

Kristin recently completed her first marathon, which has inspired her new class Yoga for Athletes and also deepened her use of meditation and mantra over the long training miles. Kristin teaches a blend of hatha and vinyasa flow yoga that is accessible to beginners and also challenging for more advanced practitioners. She is a mother of three and feels that the study of yoga is a foundational training for the body, mind, and spirit that brings balance and joy into our busy lives at any age. Kristin continues to find peace, truth, and connection through yoga and is passionate about sharing that experience with others. Visit her website.


Suzanne Batdorff

Suzi Batdorff is a 2008 graduate of Melissa Spamer's Lotus in the Flame teacher training. Her lighthearted and easygoing approach is a welcoming light to our fast-paced world. In addition to her 200 hour training, Suzi's experiences along the path of yoga have involved training with many great teachers including Cynthia Hoss, Karina Mirsky, Paul Grilley, Kali Ray, Angela Farmer & Victor Van Kooten, John Friend and more recently, Behnje Masson, where she is currently in an Anusara Immersion program.


OUR STUDIO

Integrative Bodywork and Living Yoga studios are located at 3331-33 Greenleaf Blvd, in the Parkview Hills Shoppes. Our studios will surround you with a supportive natural cork floor and a peaceful contemplative atmosphere that provides a sanctuary within the community.

The Integrative Bodywork studio offers private sessions in Massage Therapy, Manual Lymphatic Drainage Therapy, Myofascial Release, CranialSacral Therapy, Energy Balancing, Private Yoga Therapy, Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy, Integrative Bodywork and Early Age Massage for Toddler through Teen years.

Classes at Living Yoga respect and support different levels and styles of practice which include Gentle Yoga, Basic Hatha, Kripalu Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Vinyasa flow, and Yin Yoga.

Please use back (east) entrance at Living Yoga where ample parking and space to leave shoes and coats is provided.
